Since 1999

At the age of 12 I started as a soprano with in the shawm orchestra. After 15 years as a musician, I moved to the other side of the podium and have been conducting the orchestra since 2014.

I joined the board as an assessor in 2007. Two years later I was elected deputy secretary and have been the club's secretary since 2017.

After I was “caught” singing along at the local red cross summer festival, I was invited to the rehearsal.

In 2009 there was a search for a deputy secretary, so I stood for the office and was elected. At the 2021 general meeting I was proposed as deputy treasurer, and since then I have been supporting the management of finances.

Saar Hackathon e.V.

Since 2019

In 2018, a hackathon was planned in Dudweiler by Christoph Endres and Kim Pecina, scheduled for the second weekend of January 2019. It fell almost exactly on the 6th anniversary of the death of Aaron Swartz, who is a role model and inspiration for the initiators. I supported the planning and implementation of the hackathon.

It quickly became clear that more such hackathons would take place, so an club was founded to provide legal protection. When the club was founded, I was elected deputy chairman, a position I have held ever since.

Through my acquaintance with several members of the TKS, I visited the hackerspace several times. In 2019 I decided to join the club and thus support it financially. Apart from general meetings, I cannot take part in most events due to time constraints.

I have actually always been connected to the FFZ, the club is considered friends with the shawm club and some of my friends were or are active in the fanfare club. In 2019 I joined as a supporting member.

Adventsammlung

Since 2008

I have been organizing an annual food collection for Saarbrücker Tafel e.V. since 2008.

Every year on the 3rd Sunday in Advent, canned goods and other foodstuffs are collected in Herrensohr and Jägersfreude, following the example of the old clothing collection, which are then left on the doorstep as a donation by the residents.

Around 1,500 donated items are collected every year, which is around 800kg of food. Over the years we have been able to donate more than 17,000 items and almost 9 tons of food.

Since 2024, there has also been an explicit attempt to do journalism in Saarland and thereby close gaps and deal with topics that, in my opinion, are not (sufficiently) addressed by existing media.

The Dudweiler blog was started in 2011 by Thomas Braun as a news portal for Dudweiler and the Sulzbachtal. I have been part of the editorial team there since 2018.

DudoPlaner / Dudweiler.Rocks

Since 2015

The DudoPlaner is an event calendar for Dudweiler and the Sulzbachtal. After the district administration no longer published a calendar with the clubs' events, I started a platform called Dudweiler.Rocks to give clubs an easy way to collect their events in one place. The project got off to a slow start and it wasn't until the summer of 2022, when I restarted the platform and renamed it DudoPlaner, that things gained momentum. Today it is the central platform for appointments and leisure tips in and around Dudweiler.
